The MLS team are delighted to announce the second UK ECPR Summit at the Royal Society of Medicine on 23 Sep 2024. We hope to bring together multidisciplinary colleagues from all across the UK to discuss the implementation of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

We welcome healthcare professionals from across the UK working in Intensive Care, Cardiology, Resuscitation and Pre-Hospital Medicine to discuss the role of Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (ECPR) in the UK. This summit provides a unique opportunity to network with medical teams from across the country and learn about the latest updates and practices in cardiac arrest and extracorporeal support.

This gathering provides an exclusive opportunity to delve into the latest evidence and practices in cardiac arrest and Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (ECPR), curated by a panel of international experts. Our aim is to offer a comprehensive perspective on interventions employed in refractory cardiac arrests, while also providing practical insights into implementing these strategies within the UK healthcare landscape.

Attendees will have the chance to interact with passionate teams committed to advancing the management of cardiac arrest and ECPR, fostering invaluable networking opportunities with like-minded professionals from across the UK.

Organised by the Critical Care Section of the Royal Society of Medicine, this event receives support from seven national and international societies, including the Resuscitation Council, Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine, British Cardiovascular Society, Intensive Care Society, British Association of Critical Care Nurses, Air Ambulances UK, Euro ELSO, and Mechanical Life Support.

UK ECPR Cannulation Cup 2024

Join us for the inaugural UK Cannulation Cup, where four teams will showcase their expertise in ECPR cannulation during designated break sessions throughout the day. Teams will be rigorously evaluated on their cannulation skills, timing, consideration of human factors, and seamless teamwork. The victorious team will earn the prestigious opportunity to represent the UK at the esteemed 2025 EUROELSO Cannulation Cup.

National Abstract Competition for the UK ECPR Summit 2024

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our national abstract competition, inviting submissions from all the multi-disciplinary team across the UK. Selected abstracts will have the opportunity for physical poster display at the summit.

Judging Criteria:

1. Clinical Relevance: Evaluate the abstract's significance in the context of cardiac arrest and ECPR, assessing its potential to advance patient outcomes and address key clinical challenges in the field.

2. Technical Innovation: Assess the abstract's contribution to technical innovation in cardiac arrest and ECPR, focusing on novel techniques, devices, or strategies that push the boundaries of current practice.

3. Patient Outcomes: Scrutinise the impact of cardiac arrest and ECPR interventions on patient outcomes, including metrics such as survival rates, neurological recovery, and overall quality of life improvements.

4. Research Methodology: Thoroughly examine the abstract's research methodology, including study design, data collection methods, and statistical analysis. Evaluate the robustness of the evidence presented and its potential to inform clinical practice and future research endeavours.

5. Translational Potential: Consider the abstract's potential to translate research findings into tangible improvements in clinical care, highlighting opportunities for effective implementation in healthcare settings.

Submission Details:

To participate, please submit your abstracts to critical.care@rsm.ac.uk no later than July 31, 2024. We eagerly anticipate receiving your submissions and showcasing the groundbreaking research shaping the future of cardiac arrest and ECPR at the UK ECPR Summit 2024!

ECPR Summit Networking Dinner

Following the drinks reception, all attendees are cordially invited to join us for a networking evening dinner. This exclusive event offers a prime opportunity for attendees to mingle with esteemed faculty members in a relaxed setting. Hosted at the Royal Society of Medicine, the dinner features a delectable three-course meal for an additional fee of £60 per person.
